Yesterday morning, we dropped Makenna off at school for PJ/Polar Express Day and headed to Charleston. We had a great trip. I graded papers on the way down. I was happy about this, because usually, it makes me car sick. Since we were interstate all the way, I got a lot done.
We met with a new neurologist, Dr. Nysoki. He was very thorough. He asked somewhat odd questions, but he told us that there was a reason for them. He thinks Randy has small fiber neuropathy (sp?). He is not sure, and he's doing some more tests to check. Basically, large fiber NP controls muscles, bodily functions, etc. Small fiber NP controls feelings, temperature, etc. We are thankful for a dr. that is going to investigate further.
He had Randy give blood and had a whole list of tests for it. Randy said that some of the blood was wrapped in cloths and some was chilled immediately. Not sure why... interesting. He will call us with results around the first week of January. He said that some of the tests take a couple of weeks, and people are going to be on vacation.
So, we felt better knowing that people don't think Randy is crazy. At one point, we thought that the drs. thought all of it was in Randy's head, but I tried to always assure them that he's not a complainer. The even better news is that he can probably go back on the Concerta which has helped his pain tremendously.
We stopped for a little Christmas shopping at Tanger on the way back because traffic was so bad. Do you know how hard it is to find dresses for 4 year olds????? Evidently, people only wear short sleeves somewhere in this country. Strange...
