I have to share this story about what happened at my school today....
My co-worker was picking up our kids from the band room (where there was a substitute teacher). She noticed a group of kids all around one guy, and he was doing something to keep everyone's attention. When she walked over, he stopped what he was doing, but it was obvious that he had something in his hand. She said, "Give it to me." He proceeded to put a 3 inch nail in her hand. When she looked down at it, one of my girls said, "OOOOhhhhh, that just came out of his nose."
Yes, you read right.... and I mean he had it completely up his entire nose into his sinus cavity. This guy has a little tiny nose, so I couldn't believe he didn't injure himself. We all decided that she should write him up for being stupid. :) Ha! Ha!
Anyway - we kept the nail (in a plastic bag - I forgot to tell you how grossed out she was that she held it). Our principal asked her to call his parents and let them know what he had done. After school, I asked her if she had called. She was so frustrated. His mom said that it was OKAY for him to stick a 3 inch nail up his nose and that he did it all the time at home. My co-worker asked her if she realized how dangerous it was and she said, "I don't think it's really that dangerous. He knows what he's doing."
Moral of the story (that I'm reminded of daily at my job) - apples don't fall very far from trees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure do admire you teachers. You should be getting paid a whole lot more than you do, just for putting up with the parents :-)
Oh my, I'm having a hard time commenting as it makes me sick thinking of him doing this. I cannot even believe the mom, what a winner. :)
