My family...

We ate lunch with my mom's family today and had a great time catching up with them. I was just thinking about how God has blessed our family and thought I would write some of them down. They are also some interesting stats! :)

  • My grandparents were married on Feb. 12, 1932. My uncle was born on Nov. 14, 1932. (Talk about a honeymoon baby!)
  • There are 4 children (2 boys, then 2 girls). My mom is the baby.
  • One cousin, Angela, was almost 12 years old before the rest of us were born. Then, it was like stairsteps. Paul was born in April 1971. I was born in August 1971. Russell was born in April 1972. Kevin was born in March 1974. Jason was born in August 1974. Susan was born in May 1975. We always had a blast when we would get together as children.
  • Our family is full of teachers. My aunt, Faye, taught public and private elementary school in FL and SC until she retired. My aunt, Erith, taught public high school. Her daughter, Susan, has taught and is now an assistant principal. Angela is a high school teacher, and I'm an elementary teacher. It is always interesting to get all of us teachers together! :)
  • My cousin, Paul, and his wife have 2 sons from Russia, and Makenna was born in Guatemala. All three of them said that they were thankful for their families today at prayer time. Thankful just doesn't cover how we feel about them. :)
  • My uncle, Marvin, is a cancer survivor. My cousin, Russell, is a cancer survivor. My dad has a rare scar tissue disease, and Randy has a rare autoimmune disease. Through all that they've been through, God has blessed us.
  • Out of 7 grandchildren, 5 have college degrees. By the way, 4 were from Clemson!!!! Go Tigers!

I could go on and on.... we have SO much to be thankful for! Thank you Lord for placing me in a family that puts you first in all that we do. You have truly given us a gift. Give extra special comfort to Uncle Bill's family tonight and through the holiday season. This is his first Thanksgiving and Christmas in Heaven. :)
