Yes, you read right! I can't believe it. Our day started with going to church. We put pink roses in our church in her honor. Both of our families came to church. Then, we went to Copper River Grill for lunch (thanks to some of my co-workers for the gift card) and fellowship with our families. We put a small stuffed Mickey Mouse, a Micky Mouse blanket, and a picture of an airplane in a bag. When she opened it, we told her about Disneyworld. She was completely confused. I don't think she understands, but the more we talked about it, the more excited she got. We are going to make a chain of days until we leave, and I think it will become more real to her.
Her birthday brings me happiness and also a little sadness. We didn't know she was born on this day. We didn't get "the call" until March 10. I wonder what I was doing on February 15, and I wish I could remember the day vividly. I'm so thankful to God for bringing her into our lives. I can't imagine life without her. I also think of her birthmother. I wonder if she thinks of Makenna or just goes on about her every day routine. I pray that she is a Christian, and one day in heaven, I will be able to properly thank her.
I'm going to end with a letter to Makenna. This is for her to read when she's older....
My dearest daughter,
My how time flies. It seems like only yesterday that we were at the hotel in Guatemala City and you were being placed in my arms. I was terrified that I didn't know how to do everything, and there were no "nurses" around to ask. I remember the first time you cried. I cried too. Your daddy kept telling me that I couldn't cry every time you cried, or it was going to be a long 5 day trip.
We've watched you turn from a baby into a 5 year old. You're spunky, outspoken, and a huge social butterfly. I can't imagine where you get these traits from! :) I love how to get up in the mornings with the best attitude and sing on the way to school. I love how you perform "shows" for me and your daddy. You are such a little performer. I pray that God uses those talents one day for His glory.
I'm sure it will feel like a blink of an eye, and you will be driving one day. I can't believe how fast times flies. I always want you to know that you were chosen to be ours. We prayed every day for 5 and a half years for God to bring us the perfect child for our family, and He did.... you! I love you with all of my heart!

Oh yeah, she'll be getting more and more excited as the days go along. Isabella was the same way, kind of like: I've been asking to go to Disney and we're ACTUALLY going -- confusing. :) You will have to see the video of Isabella as we were driving into Disney. She was screaming and bouncing around saying "We're going to Disney World....!!!" And it will just make the fairy tales more real and exciting for her. So much fun! Can't wait for you guys to go.
I can't believe she is FIVE!!!! She is growing up so fast. I hope ya'll had a fantastic day together and I know your going to have so much fun when you go to Disney!! You made me cry with your thoughts of Makenna's birth mother and your letter to Makenna. She is so blessed to have wonderful parents like you and Randy. God has blessed your entire family all the way around!!! God bless you guys!!! Happy Birthday Makenna!!!!
I forgot to tell you on Sunday, when I told Isabella it was Makenna's birthday and that you were telling her about Disney World, she said "Oh no! We need to hurry, we're going to miss her birthday party!" :)
